I just finished Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler. We read it for class. I was completely intrigued with the story, up until the end, then I had a falling out with the way it ended. That hasn’t stopped me from wanting to read the rest of the books in that series however.
Currently I am reading The Fifth Season by N. K. Jemisin. Again I am reading this for class, but oh my, do I ever love this world that has been created. It’s not that it is a fantastic place to live, it’s just that I never would have imagined it without Jemisin creating it for me. It’s quite fascinating.
On both books, when I finish with my class, I will take the time to write a formal review for you, but for now, know that I like both of them enough to want to just keep reading and reading and reading, well beyond the pages that are required for class.
While it is tough to find the time to fit so much reading into my days on top of my other homework. I am also extremely grateful for the excuse to pick up a book and read in a manner that I enjoy. This is one type of homework I don’t mind doing!
Have you read either of these books? What did you think? Tell me your thoughts!
