Just For Fun

What does “Live Life Creatively” Even Mean?

In my logo and on my blog, I talk about living life creatively, but what in the world does that mean?

To me, living life creatively is about taking risks and going after what you want in life. The thing that you are most passionate about doesn’t need to be out of your reach, you can achieve your goals if you put in the work for it. Because believe me…it ain’t easy!

Far too often people push the one thing they are passionate about aside for other priorities in their life. I get it – life happens and you have to roll with it. I am not saying dismiss or forget all your other priorities, I am just saying don’t give up on your passion. If it is your passion, it likely won’t let you forget about it anyway.

Do what you have to – make life work – get the bills paid, take care of the family, then with what time is left over, which might not seem like much – PURSUE YOUR PASSION!

Be Creative!

There are far too many people out there that have little faith in their abilities to be creative. They think, I can’t draw. I can’t write. I can’t build anything. I can’t paint. I can’t…I can’t…I can’t….Do you see the theme here?

I’ve got news for you – when you were a kid, did you think you couldn’t do those things? I bet you didn’t. “I can’t” is learned over the years. You often start out thinking you can do anything. Get back to that younger stage. Don’t believe the “I can’t” in your head.

Because here is the truth – it takes PRACTICE to be good at creativity. The more you practice it the easier it gets. The more you practice it the better you’ll get.

So don’t be so quick to give up on your creative dreams.

Melissa’s Creative Life

So how do I live a creative life? I pursue my passions.

I love to write and I love to paint. Ultimately I had to decide to choose one to do for a living and the other to do as a hobby. I chose writing, which I think is a stronger passion of mine for my career, while painting is my hobby.

I work part-time, go to school full-time, and find time in there for blogging and working on my book. Why? Because it is what I want to do with my life. It is what I love. It is what drives me. It makes me happy.
