I am still searching for my perfect home with wheels. I am torn between trading in my little VW bug for something bigger that can pull a travel trailer, or getting a class C Motorhome where I can pull my little VW bug behind me. It’s a toss up right now.
I love my little VW for getting around. She’s so darn cute, and fits in any parking spot, and forget traffic. It’s almost a pleasure to drive her anywhere I have to go. I will surely miss my little VW if I have to let her go.
However, the class C’s are much pricier than a travel trailer and my budget may not allow me to get one of those babies as much as I’d like to keep my VW. I haven’t given up hope yet though, as I found a class c nearby that is yes – older- but certainly one that could be made into my home. A new class C is out of the question due to budget constraints. I want to pay for my home in cash, and hope to use the rest of my money for travel and RV parks/campgrounds.
If I do opt for a class C, I have to consider the additional expense of a trailer to pull my vehicle, as it needs to have all four wheels off the ground. I don’t think the cost of these trailers is too outrageous, but again, it effects the budget.
If I can do it, I plan to purchase my new home in January – in the thick of a Michigan winter. I am hoping I will both be able to get a good deal in the off-season, and be able to get it home before the snow comes cascading down too heavily.
If I can’t find one in January, or if the weather doesn’t cooperate, I’ll be waiting till next fall around this time to make my purchase. (That waiting time doesn’t bode well for my lack of patience.) I am hoping that things work out in January however.
I’ve been reading other’s blogs, and researching all I can for now to get my self set on the path and prepared as best as I can be. My biggest fear is some maintenance issue will come up immediately that I can’t handle alone. Eeek – but I guess that is why we pay people to do it for us!
