Today was a day of saying goodbye to my colleagues. It isn’t my “official” last day, that comes tomorrow, but we celebrated today because I wouldn’t be able to see everyone if we waited until tomorrow.
I feel privileged to have been able to work with and meet the people that I have with my short time at the office. The whole experience was new for me, and took some acclimating as I previously came from a very different field of work. I am grateful for the chance they took in hiring me with no experience in the field and providing me with ample opportunities to learn not just one position, but several during my time there. I’ve heard the term “we are a family” more times than I can count and yet it has taken me a long time to understand exactly what that means in an office. It’s not just sharing in potlucks, although we did partake in those, it is also caring about each other and hoping for the best in each and every area of each others lives. It’s making friendships that carry on far beyond the office walls. I am grateful for the chance to have become even for a short time, a part of that family.
I was greeted today with gifts that both surprised and touched my heart by these same coworkers. It was a pleasure to work with you all, and as I start my new adventure, you will not be forgotten!
Thank you for the smiles! 🙂
